bio:

Torri Shack, CEO and Founder of Tangible Movement, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is a transformative advocate at the nexus of mental health and LGBTQ+ issues. Torri is a two-time attempted suicide survivor, recovering drug addict, and alcoholic and identifies as transgender using he/him pronouns. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in History and International Relations from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

 

Beyond his advocacy work, he is a successful entrepreneur as the CEO and Founder of Resilient Consultancy, specializing in small business and nonprofit consulting. His advocacy is deeply rooted in his experiences with addiction, depression, and longstanding mental health challenges. 

 

Founded by Torri in 2016, Tangible Movement has gained recognition for its efforts to break down the stigmas associated with mental health, suicide, addiction, LGBTQIA2+ equity, and gender identity. The organization achieves this by offering resilience training workshops and Lived Experience Perspective presentations at educational institutions, corporations, and conferences throughout the United States. Torri's own lived experience and insights serve as the foundation for these transformative programs, amplifying their impact.

 

In addition to leading Tangible Movement, Torri serves on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Northern Nevada. He is a certified educator and facilitator for NAMI's mental health initiatives. Their contributions also extend to the Lived Experience Advisory Committee (LEAC) for the Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC), a certified educator for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), and lastly, serves on the board of Directors of Our Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit advocating for Northern Nevada's LGBTQ+ community. 

 

Motivated by his mental health, recovery, and acceptance journey, Torri aims to revolutionize the discourse and action surrounding mental health, suicide prevention, LGBTQIA2s+ equity, and gender identity. Through collaborative efforts and community engagement, he seeks to foster empathy and provide tangible resources to teach resilience, aspiring to create a ripple effect of change across the nation and potentially the globe.
